Who we are and what we do: 
Oxalis Design is an electronics-first design consultancy specializing in embedded systems development. We work with clients developing technically complex products across medical, consumer and industrial sectors, supporting projects from early concept through to pilot builds and transfer to production. Our in-house capabilities span electronics hardware design, embedded firmware development, wireless connectivity and RF integration, alongside regulatory and compliance support.

What makes us unique:
Oxalis is focused solely on electronics and embedded firmware development, and we spend our time working at the boundary between hardware, software and real-world constraints. That focus has allowed us to build depth in our core technical areas while remaining a small, cohesive engineering team. We take a practical and collaborative approach to complex and regulated products, resulting in robust designs that can be validated, manufactured, and supported over their full lifecycle. 

Working with Nordic Semiconductor:
Oxalis has worked with Nordic devices and software platforms across a range of client projects, particularly where low-power operation, long-term support, and a stable embedded software ecosystem are critical. As our work increasingly spans healthcare, medical, environmental monitoring, and connected infrastructure, we expect Nordic platforms to remain an important part of our technology toolkit. Joining the Nordic Partner Program is a natural extension of our existing working relationship and supports our intention to deepen collaboration as both our business and Nordic’s product portfolio evolve.

Which projects we focus on:
Oxalis focuses on small to medium-sized, technically complex projects, supporting both full product development and targeted specialist engagements. We favor rapid iterative design during early prototyping, but often move to a more structured approach in later-stage development or when operating in regulated or higher-risk domains, such as medical device development. Our clients are primarily based in the UK and Europe, working across medical, health, environmental monitoring, and industrial sectors.

Our work typically involves complex / high-density PCB design, RF and antenna integration, low-power embedded firmware, and secure boot and firmware update mechanisms.

Beyond core design activities, Oxalis provides rapid prototyping, pre-production testing and validation, regulatory and compliance support, pilot production support, and transfer to manufacture. We often operate as a long-term technical partner, continuing to support products post-launch and through to market

Oxalis is committed to supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals through the types of work we choose to undertake and the way we operate as a business. As part of our company strategy and quality management approach, sustainability and societal impact are considered when evaluating new projects, with priority given to work that contributes positively to health, wellbeing, responsible technology development, and environmental sustainability.

This has led us to work on technologies such as microplastic filtration, environmental and ocean monitoring for seaweed farming, women’s health and wellness devices, on-farm and point-of-care in-vitro diagnostics that support more targeted use of antibiotics, and monitoring systems for renewable and low-carbon energy infrastructure. These projects reflect a broader focus on improving access to healthcare and diagnostics, supporting environmental protection and monitoring, and enabling more resilient and sustainable energy systems.

Through these activities, Oxalis contributes towards several UN Sustainable Development Goals and continues to prioritize projects that align with these principles as the business grows
