STRATUM 9 provides DECT NR+ software, development tools and industrial gateway solutions based on Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF9151 for deterministic, low-latency wireless communication in industrial automation and IIoT.
Who we are and what we do:
STRATUM 9 is an Austrian specialist in embedded systems and industrial wireless communication. We develop complete DECT NR+ solutions based on Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF9151, including a licensable software stack, development tools, firmware, custom electronics and industrial gateway hardware. We support customers from evaluation and prototyping through integration and production-ready product development.
What makes us unique:
Our proprietary Scheduled Access MAC layer enables deterministic point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communication. Centrally assigned time slots provide collision-free, predictable transmission for time-critical and mobile applications. STRATUM 9 combines protocol expertise with seamless handover, transparent Ethernet, PROFINET and PROFIsafe transport, and end-to-end embedded engineering. The ability to draw on our existing advanced S9 development platforms (software, hardware and cloud) speeds up customer-specific projects significantly in terms of feasibility, prototyping and integration. We are a member of the DECT forum, actively driving and shaping the development and standardization of DECT NR+.
Working with Nordic Semiconductor:
STRATUM 9 builds its DECT NR+ portfolio on Nordic’s nRF9151 and nRF Connect SDK. Our Software Stack is available as a Zephyr module, SDK or ready-to-use firmware image. The license-based DECT NR+ Starter Kit turns Nordic nRF9151 development kits into an evaluation platform with network configuration, real-time diagnostics, performance analysis, firmware management and an integrated AI assistant, helping developers progress quickly from Nordic hardware and APIs to their own demos and application-specific products.
Which projects we focus on:
We focus on industrial automation, intralogistics, mobile robotics and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications requiring robust, low-latency and predictable wireless communication. Typical projects include automated guided vehicles (AGVs), autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), monorail and conveyor systems, rotating machinery, remote I/O, condition monitoring and distributed sensors. Customers can license our software, use our white-label-ready industrial DECT NR+ Gateway, or commission custom hardware, firmware, back-end and system integration.
Solutions
STRATUM 9 offers a DECT NR+ Software Stack, a Starter Kit for Nordic nRF9151 development kits, an industrial DECT NR+ Gateway and end-to-end development services. The Gateway supports scheduled access, configurable FT or PT operation, Ethernet and CAN integration, seamless handover and transparent transport of industrial Ethernet protocols such as PROFINET and PROFIsafe (transparent layer 2). The DECT NR+ hardware can be integrated into existing architectures without system downtime (plug & play).
