micro:bit class kit program
micro:bit Class Kit Program – Giveaway Terms & Conditions
1. Who runs the giveaway
The micro:bit Class Kit Program giveaway (the "Giveaway") is run by Nordic Semiconductor ASA ("Nordic", "we", "us"). It celebrates ten years of micro:bit by giving BBC micro:bit Club kits to classrooms around the world. By entering, you accept these terms and conditions (the "Terms"). Entry is free and no purchase is necessary.
2. Giveaway period
The Giveaway opens on October 16, 2026, and closes on November 15, 2026 (the "Closing Date"). Entries received outside this period are not valid. Winners will be notified by email within 10 working days after the Closing Date. We may extend the period; any change will be published on www.nordicsemi.com/microbit-program.
3. Who can enter
You can enter if you are:
- an educator aged 18 or over, teaching students aged 8-14 at a school or educational organization (for example a school, club, library or after-school program);
- entering on behalf of that school or organization, with the authority to do so; and
- resident in, and with the school or organization located in, a country where we can deliver the prize and where such giveaways are lawful (excluded: Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, occupied Ukrainian regions (Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson), Syria).
Each educator may submit one entry. Duplicate entries from the same person will be disqualified. Employees of Nordic Semiconductor, their close family members, and anyone else involved in running the Giveaway cannot enter.
4. How to enter
To enter, complete the online entry form at www.nordicsemi.com/microbit-program during the Giveaway period. You will be asked for:
- first and last name, school or organization name, email address and country;
- the age of your students, your teaching subjects and your class size;
- your school address;
- a short answer on why you want the kit and what you would use it for; and
- a short description of your school or organization and community.
You must also tick three boxes confirming that (1) you are an educator entering on behalf of the school or organization named in the form, (2) if selected, you agree to send Nordic a write-up, a quote and photos of the project as described in section 7 and allow Nordic to publish them, and (3) you accept these Terms and have read the privacy notice. Entries that are incomplete, late, automated, or that contain false information are not valid. Nordic is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed or not received for technical reasons.
5. Prize
There are 50 prizes. Each prize is one BBC micro:bit Club kit (containing 10 BBC micro:bit V2 boards, and accompanying USB cables, battery packs, batteries, quick start user guides, safety leaflets, cardboard battery pack holders, and stickers) for use in the winner's classroom (the "Prize"). The Prize is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash or another item, and is given to the school or organization named in the winning entry. Nordic may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the kit becomes unavailable.
6. Selection of winners
Winners are chosen after the Closing Date by a random draw among all valid entries. The decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Nordic will contact each selected educator by the email address in the entry and may ask for proof of eligibility. If a winner does not reply within 7 days, is not eligible or cannot accept the Prize, Nordic may withdraw it and select a reserve winner.
7. What winners agree to send and allow
If you are selected, you agree to send Nordic, within six weeks of receiving the Prize:
- a short write-up describing how you used the kit in your classroom;
- a quote from you, and if you wish from a student or colleague, about the project; and
- photos of the project.
You allow Nordic to publish the write-up, quote and photos, together with your name and your school or organization's name, on Nordic's website, blog and social channels, and to edit them for length and clarity. Published content may stay online indefinitely. You confirm that you own the material or have the right to share it, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
If photos show students or other people, you are responsible for having the consent required under local law and your school's policies, including from parents or guardians for children, before sending them to Nordic. Do not send photos in which a child can be identified without that consent. You may withdraw your consent to publication at any time (see section 9); we will then remove the content from channels we control, but cannot recall copies already shared by others.
8. Delivery
Nordic will arrange delivery of the Prize to the school address provided by the winner, at no cost to the winner. Delivery is expected within two weeks of the winner confirming their address. Nordic is not responsible for delays caused carriers or customs. Any import duties, taxes or customs formalities in the destination country are covered by Nordic. Risk of loss passes to the winner on delivery.
9. Personal data
Nordic Semiconductor ASA is the data controller. We use your details to run the Giveaway, to arrange delivery if you are selected, and to publish the write-up, quote and photos you send us. We delete entry data 30 days after the Closing Date, except for winners' data, which we keep until the project content has been published. Published content may remain on our channels indefinitely. You can access, correct or ask us to delete your data, and withdraw your consent at any time, by contacting privacy@nordicsemi.no. The full Privacy Notice for this Giveaway is at this link. It supplements Nordic's general Privacy Policy at nordicsemi.com/Privacy/Privacy-Policy.
10. Other terms
Liability. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, Nordic, and their staff are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the Giveaway or the Prize, including injury or loss from use of the kit, beyond what is required by law. Educators are responsible for supervising students when they use the kit.
Changes and cancellation. Nordic may change these Terms, or suspend, change or cancel the Giveaway, if circumstances outside its control make this necessary, for example technical failure, fraud, or legal or supply problems. Any change will be published at nordicsemi.com/microbit-program and does not affect valid entries already made, except where the law requires otherwise.
Disqualification. Nordic may disqualify any entry that breaks these Terms, contains false information, or is submitted by unfair means.
Export controls and sanctions. The Prize is subject to applicable export control and sanctions laws, including those of Norway, the EU, the UK and the US. Nordic and Farnell may refuse, withhold or cancel delivery, and withdraw the Prize, where those laws require it or where the educator, school or organization is a sanctioned or restricted party. You must not export, resell or transfer the kit in breach of these laws.
Endorsement. The Giveaway is run by Nordic and is not sponsored or administered by Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or other social platforms, used for promotion.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes will be settled by the courts of Norway, without affecting any mandatory consumer or data protection rights you have under the law of your country.
